Google seems to be rolling out a major new redesign of the Google Play Store. We've seen this design slowly take shape through limited testing over the past few months, but now it seems like the design is finally coming to a wide array of devices. Sometimes these designs are just out for testing and they get rolled backed, but with the launch of Android Q on the horizon, we get the feeling this version will stick.
The new design is in line with the revamped "Material Design" spec that Google launched with Android 9 Pie last year...

The Google Play Store is the biggest, and safest, way for users to get apps for Android devices. For that reason alone, developers are keen to get their apps in the store, but Google first has to vet those applications in a review process. In the past week, Google has quietly increased the amount of time it takes for a new Android app to go through the Play Store approval process.

If there was ever a reason to download apps from Google Play versus third-party app stores, it would be how Google has security and review systems in place designed to help detect malicious apps from showing up in the Play Store, thus protecting users from downloading these apps on their phones.
Unfortunately, from time to time, malicious apps somehow managed to slip past Google's current system, which is why Google is now informing developers that they will be introducing a new review process in which it could potentially take longer for new apps to show up in the Play Store.
